Lived-in brightness

Soft color, grown in, not grown out

Balayage is ideal when you want brightness that feels blended instead of striped, soft instead of high-contrast, and intentional as it grows. Your stylist will look at your natural color, previous color, hair condition, haircut, and how often you want to come back before choosing placement.

Some guests need a few hand-painted pieces around the face. Others need partial balayage, full balayage, foilayage, or a gloss refresh. We will help you choose the service that fits your hair and your routine.

Prefer brighter, more controlled foil work? Visit our Highlights page.

Services & pricing

What balayage costs at The Junction

Balayage starts at $148.

Consultation recommended for new guests, major brightness changes, previously colored hair, or anyone unsure whether balayage or highlights is the better fit. Final pricing depends on technique, time, hair length, density, starting point, color history, and desired result.

Partial Balayage Soft brightness through the face frame, top, and visible areas. Best for a natural refresh, subtle dimension, or maintaining existing balayage.
from $148
Full Balayage A more complete balayage service for brightness and dimension throughout the hair. Best for bigger changes, first-time balayage, or guests wanting a more noticeable result.
from $168
Balayage Gloss / Tone Refresh For existing balayage that needs the tone refreshed between full appointments. Refines the shade, revives shine, and keeps color polished without lifting.
from $85
Color Retouch + Partial Balayage Refresh For guests who need root coverage plus a little more brightness through the visible areas. Best for maintaining existing balayage while keeping grey or root regrowth polished.
from $265
Toner is included with lightening services. Lightening exposes warmth and can leave the hair looking unfinished. Toner refines the final shade, softens unevenness, and creates a polished, uniform result. It is part of doing balayage properly, not an afterthought.

Before you book

Balayage, answered honestly

Is balayage different from highlights?+
Yes. Balayage is usually hand-painted for a softer, more lived-in result and a gentler grow-out. Highlights usually use foils for brighter, more controlled lift. If you want classic foil brightness, visit our Highlights page.
How often does balayage need maintenance?+
Many balayage guests return every 3 to 4 months for placement maintenance, with gloss or toner refreshes every 6 to 8 weeks if they want to keep the tone especially polished.
Can balayage work on dark hair?+
Yes, but the result depends on your starting point, color history, and hair condition. Darker or previously colored hair may need a gradual plan to reach lighter results safely.
Can I get very blonde with balayage?+
Sometimes. If your goal is maximum brightness, we may recommend foilayage, highlights, or blonding instead of a traditional open-air balayage approach. The consultation helps us choose the safest and strongest path.
What is included with balayage?+
Every lightening service includes consultation, lightening plan, toner or gloss, shampoo and condition, and a finished style. Bond support may be used where your hair calls for it.
